Alnor Citadel Overhaul
Citadel Rework
One of the biggest adjustments I made during development was to the Alnor Citadel. Originally, it felt too open, and the stonework was much brighter than I had envisioned, clashing with the overall aesthetic I wanted for the area. To address this, I reworked the concept entirely, creating a smaller Point of Interest (POI) — a morgue that had been converted into an outpost for one of the game’s factions: The Keepers of the Vale.
The Keepers of the Vale are an eclectic group of volunteers from across the continent, ranging from mortals and goblins to fairies and more, united by a common goal: protecting the Cosmic Vale from the evil necromancer Fivana and her army of undead. I wanted this faction to feel like a diverse force bound together by their cause, and the outpost reflects that in its design.
I also added multiple access points to the citadel, giving players more ways to approach and engage with the environment, rather than funneling them through a single entry. In addition, I created a dungeon area within the citadel. This dungeon is accessible to players once they reach a high enough level, offering a difficult but rewarding challenge. Players can choose to tackle the dungeon early, though doing so will present significant obstacles, making it a strategic decision in gameplay.
